Joe Hockey set to become the official mascot for the Hockeyroos

One of our most successful sporting teams has adopted one of our most fun loving Australian politicians as its new mascot.

The Hockeyroos recently invited the Honorable Joe Hockey MP to be their new mascot, replacing the aging “golden cartoon boxing kangaroo”.

“We thought it was time to replace the boxing kangaroo,” said Associate Captain Jess Janeway from the Hockeyroos.

“It all started, when I questioned what boxing even has to do with hockey, and someone suggested that maybe I could find something more hockey related then. So I turned to my partner Jo and asked her ‘Jo, what do you think?’ and we both came to the same conclusion at the same time – Joe Hockey!”

Joe Hockey salutes the Hockeyroos

“We have already got a designer working on a new rubber inflatable Joe Hockey that we will float at every game.”

A member of Joe Hockey’s staff has said that he would be “pumped” to become the team mascot.

The Hockeyroos are currently undergoing intensive training in preparation for the 2012 London Olympics, and possibly plan to release a sexy calendar later in the year.
